World Class Positivity - How Do You Stay Positive?

Positivity is an essential part of wellness. But, it’s not always easy to stay positive. Challenges present themselves throughout the day, often causing us to revert to negative thoughts. Maybe feeling defeated or like the wind is being let out of our sails. When that happens, a conscious effort must be made to remain positive. Here are some practices and tips I use to help me stay positive, despite what life throws at me.

Engage in positive self talk. Your mind and body listen to what you tell yourself. If you keep on telling yourself “I can’t” then you might persuade yourself that this is the truth. Try to tell yourself “I can. I will!!” instead.

Be mindful of where you put your focus. I It may be that you have developed a habit of always putting your focus on the negative. When you find yourself doing this, think of ONE positive thing. And focus on that. Then try and think of another positive thing. And then focus on the two things. And so on. As long as you doo this, your mind will not be able to focus on the negativity.

Fill your thoughts with words that invoke strength and success. Focus on words that can make you FEEL happy and strong. Words like “great, love, attainable, empowered, leader, purposeful, resourceful” make us feel better.

Create a positive affirmation on your mind. Think of your goal. Then, create a vision of attaining your goal. Consider repeating positive phrases to yourself like “I deserve” Believing is 90% of doing!

·When you start feeling anxious, direct yourself to happy thoughts. Create a positive image of what it will be like after you have achieved your goal.

Avoid isolating yourself from others. Being alone can often allow negative thoughts to creep into our subconscious. Try and engage with other like- minded people as yourself. Seek out those that have similar interests as you. When all else fails, just go out and do something nice for another person - you will be amazed at what a positive impact this will have on your outlook!!
